Getting Older – Stuff To Know

Obviously the goal in life is to get older.

But how we look and feel when we get there is entirely up to you and your genetics.

There are definitely things you cannot control.

There are even more things that you can control!

Here are the 5 things I think you should do to help you get better with age…

1.) STRETCH DAILY- I work with some pretty impressive clients on a daily basis and it amazes me how many people do not stretch. One of the most common things I see are clients with less flexibility get more injuries.

PRO TIP TO IMPLEMENT ==> every night before bed I spend 5 minutes on the ground bedside to foam roll and stretch any body parts that feel tight or sore. It’s relaxing and helps you sleep better too!

2.) MOVE DAILY almost all movement is good movement when it comes to physical health. Yard work is just as (if not more) beneficial as a walk, and you knock out two things from your checklist.

PRO TIP TO IMPLEMENT ==> Plan out your next 7 days with 30-60 minutes allocated for workouts, walks or housework each day. You’ll have a clean house, sound mind and a fit body.

3.) LIFT HEAVY THINGS- Stronger muscles make stronger bones and bone density. Either lift weights or use weight machines at the gym at least 2 days every week to maintain strength. Workout your entire body: a push exercise, a pull exercise, a squatting exercise and a bending/hinging exercise

PRO TIP TO IMPLEMENT ==> If you are new to working out, hiring a trainer for a week or two is the quickest way to get yourself into a solid and safe routine. You wouldn’t work on your car, your plumbing or anything else in your life without experience or hiring a pro.

4.) MORE PROTEIN & WATER- Every living organ, muscle and tissue in your body is fueled by protein and hydrated with water. The more often you include these things throughout your day, the better your body will function at life…your life!

PRO TIP TO IMPLEMENT ==> Aim to get 100 ounces of water and 100 grams of protein daily. You can get away with way more or a little less, but just work on getting 100/100 consistently and get better from there.

5. GET SLEEP- You know how much sleep you need to feel good and refreshed. It’s not always possible to hit that number every day, but if you need a good night sleep to refresh your mind and body, you should make it happen.

PRO TIP TO IMPLEMENT ==> If you need to recharge pick a night to prep and eat dinner early, then start your bedtime routine as soon as possible afterwards. Don’t worry about your favorite show or social media feeds, you can see that in the morning when you’re feeling amazing!

Are there more things than this required to live a healthier life? Sure!

But if my life depended on it (which it does) and I could only pick 5 things to focus on for the rest of my life…this is my Top 5 list!
