My Top 10 Restaurant Meals

The weekend is here and if your personal chef did not prepare your meals for you this week (sarcasm), you might be left searching for the next best thing to eat today to avoid going off track.

When eating at restaurants or on the go, there are healthy options. I’ve included 10 of my favorite on the go meals for you, that I recommend often to clients.

Screenshot this list next time a family dinner, a work or social event leads you to eating away from home.

Keep in mind just because these meals are healthier than others, make sure you don’t go crazy with the sauces, side items or carbohydrates that are included.

BONUS TIP #1 ==> For portion sizes, always aim for a greater volume of vegetables and protein than carbohydrates.
BONUS TIP #2 ==> Choose the options with more carbohydrates during the times you will be most active in the upcoming hours.

#1) Chipotle- bowl with double meat, pick either sour cream or cheese (not both), divide into 2 meals

#2) Wendy’s- 10 chicken nuggets, small chili and side salad (pick a low fat and low sugar option)

#3) Any Diner or Wawa- Greek or Caesar salad with grilled chicken, dressing on the side

#4) Any Diner or Restaurant- grilled chicken wrap, eat only ½ the fries (or portion smaller than your wrap)

#5) Sports Bar- grilled or naked chicken wings, celery w/ low fat ranch

#6) Applebees- blackened shrimp Caesar salad -or- strawberry balsamic chicken salad, dressing on the side

#7) Panera- pick 2- salad with extra protein and dressing on the side, choice of a lighter soup, apple (no baguette)

#8) Longhorn or Outback- filet mignon, sweet potato with cinnamon/Splenda/salt, salad

#9) Chili’s- mango-chile chicken -or- ranchero chicken tacos

#10) Carrabba’s- chicken Bryan with asparagus, salad with dressing on the side

If you aren’t properly prepared to conquer the day, now you are at least armed for better success.

Just pick an item from this list for a guilt-free lunch and make sure you swing by the grocery store on your way home so you have some homemade meals ready for next week!
